WA STATE THEATRE CENTRE STAGE

Location: Northbridge, Western Australia

Status: Competition Entry 2012

Colleboration: A project in joint venture with Kohn Pederson Fox, UK.

One of five short-listed designs for the international competition to design a new State Theatre for Western Australia.

The performing arts venue is located on the south western corner of the Perth Cultural Centre and housing a 580 seat auditorium, 200 seat studio theatre, public gallery, ancillary spaces, offices and rehearsal spaces (7,500m²).

The key to this scheme is its proposal to forge urban connections between Perth’s central business district, the nightlife of Northbridge and the interior of the established cultural block.

The iconic form of the theatre makes a highly visible statement on the City skyline and its powerful presence acknowledges its future importance with the planned direct connections to Perth’s CBD.
